There's a celebration for everything, even breastfeeding! Did you know this week is "World Breastfeeding Week"? I thought it'd be interesting to see where our birth month moms stand on the topic!
I will exclusively pump again like I did with DS. I tried BFing (reluctantly) in the hospital but he never latched....not once. I went to pumping and never looked back!
It's the best option by far for our family.
* DS1...allergic to dairy, peanuts, eggs and turkey *
love is for every her, love is for every him, love is for everyone

Oh, I should have definitely included an option for pumping! Many of my friends do a combination.
I never got one single drop of colostrum or milk while pregnant with DS or after I had him. He would've starved to death! So no, formula it is for this babe too!

I will try my hardest with this baby, DD only latched once and then never again, pumped for 3 weeks and dried up I want to exclusively BF for 1 year+ and see where it goes from there! The hospital I delivered at didn't hand DD to me to feed and gave her a pacifier at first before I fed so she got confused, pissed me off!!!
Yep. It was one of the most challenging things I have ever done in the beginning, but also the most fulfilling. I exclusively BF Lily for 15 months and don't regret one moment of it.

This is exactly me - I will breastfeed in the hospital so I don't have to have my pump there, but I do plan on switching to EP when we get home. DS was a lazy nurser and wouldn't get anything out but we didn't know this for the first 2 days, so our first full day home, he was 3 days old and starving so I pumped and got 4 ounces and he sucked the bottle dry and wanted more so I pumped full time from then on out. I loved the ease of pumping and it will work great for us again this time around.

Personally, I think it's probably unrealistic to vote "yes, no doubts." I really, really would like to breastfeed, but unfortunately, it's not an option for everyone. My mom never produced enough milk for any of her kids, and my sister produced enough breastmilk, but my nephew refused to breastfeed (the doctor and lactation consultant actually said that he was just "really lazy.") I know that their inability to breastfeed has nothing to do with me, but I'm trying to keep in mind that no matter how much I want to breastfeed, it doesn't necessarily mean that I'll be able to.
I am definitely going to try and if the baby won't latch I'll try to pump. Although my DH's grandmother told me if I breastfeed my baby will be fat and ugly. She just had a stroke so i'm not too sure she understood what she said. I do love her though

I couldn't help but lol about what your grandmother said -- but that's just an awful thing to say! I definitely don't believe your baby will be fat and ugly.

It's ok, I kind of snickered when she told me too. She just comes out with these strange things sometimes. Later on in the night she told me I would have an awesome rack and my DH wouldn't be able to keep his hands off me...Yes that is a grandmother talking.

Absolutely! I BF DS for about 14.5 months and it was wonderful, I'm looking forward to doing it again. This time will be so much better too because I'll be a SAHM so I won't have to pump as often -- pumping was such a pain for me (mainly because my boss was an a** about it).
Just wanted to throw it out there that BF'ing is really challenging at first -- it was almost harder for me than giving birth. I had to set mini-goals for myself. Once I made it past about 6 weeks it got so much easier. I think many women go into breastfeeding with unrealistic expectations. It hurts a ton at first. It can be very challenging to get your DC to latch on. It's hard to deal with supply issues. I still think every family should do what is best for them whether it be bf'ing or ff'ing. In the end I really enjoyed breastfeeding so I really hope I'll be able to BF this child, as well.
My big goal for this baby is to breastfeed successfully. With our first, she latched on fine in the hospital, but when we got home I didn't feel my milk was in and was afraid she was getting dehydrated. I gave her a bottle and that was the end of it. I tried pumping but we had work being done on our house and someone was always around and I honestly just didn't make the time to do it or to take care of myself. When I went in for my 6 wk post natal appointment the damn nurse practitioner put me on regular birth control pills and my milk dried up instantly. So, that said, I am bound and determined that this baby will nurse (and get pumped milk in a bottle because I'll have to go back to work).
I love love love breastfeeding so I will be doing it again. I BF my daughter for 9 months and I would have liked to go longer but I worked full time and my milk supply wasn't there. I want to go for at least a year this time.

Yes, I'll definitely be breastfeeding the next baby. I LOVE breastfeeding!! It's a challenge in the very beginning, with my first I had a rough time until about 5/6 weeks and then it was much easier and it stopped hurting. I BFed him for 11 months. The second time around it didn't hurt one bit so it was a LOT easier on me (plus, I knew what I was doing--that helps a lot!).

DD was a lazy eater and despite my mom being a LC and spending the first 3 weeks with us I never could get her to breastfeed effectively. So I ended up pumping for almost 11 months.
I would love to be able to truly breastfeed this time around. Pumping is easier in the beginning but after a month or so just breastfeeding would save so much time and effort. Hopefully knowing the issues going in will make it work for us this time.
Please remember though ladies that a healthy and happy mom & baby are so much more important then breastfeeding. Give it your best shot but don't beat yourself up too much if it does not work out (easier said then done I know).
I only answered "Yes, no doubts" because I was luckily very successful with DD. Our pedi told me I could feed triplets. Go me! So, barring any unexpected complications, baby will be getting breast milk. Boob or bottle, whichever works. Also, the price of formula alone is enough to motivate me to keep it up as long as possible!
I chose SS. I will try, but it is doubtful that it will work. My mom, grandmom, and sister all were unable. We have super sensitive breasts, and it just is too painful. We'll see though - I'm going to give it the old college try
I went through tremendous guilt when I could barely breastfeed my daughter. They almost kept her in the hospital because I couldn't convince them to bring me a bottle of formula and her blood sugar dropped very low. So, yeah, no thanks. I will formula feed from the start and not have the guilt.

This pisses me off too. I'm making a mental note to discuss this with my OB so that it is extremely clear my intentions of EBF. Ugh, I'm still mad for you!!
