2nd Trimester

Go figure...

24 weeks with no morning sickness, no nausea, no intolerances to food or vitamins, no negative pregnancy symptoms of any kind. Then last week I started feeling woozy -- nauseated, light-headed, shaky, tired, and just icky in general.

My monthly checkup and 1-hr glucose test are this Tuesday morning and I haven't had any scary symptoms like excessive swelling, headache, or rapid/pounding heartbeat, so I decided to just watch it for a few days and see if anything helped.

By process of elimination I realized it was my new prenatal. Rainbow Light Just Once, supposedly one of the most easily tolerated natural prenatals on the market. Is that a kick in the head or what? One more reminder that pregnancy is such a personal thing. You can read all the books and take all the advice out there, but you just never know how your own body will react to things. I assume in my case my body just didn't appreciate going from 18 mg of iron to 30. Go figure.

Any other oddballs out there?

Re: Go figure...

  • I am taking way better care of myself with this pregnancy (eating better, working out staying active etc) and was just put on bed rest because of some uterine cramping/irritation. Go figure!

Your symptoms also sound like you could be anemic.  which is common at this stage.

Fortunately, no, my iron is actually just slightly higher than average, so it looks like going from a low dose to a higher dose might've been too much for my digestive system to handle.
