Re: Tell me about best bottoms!

  • I just started using my first one, and I think the wraps could work great to use with prefolds, but with the snap in insert we're getting poop on the edges of the wrap a lot (on the fabric part so they need washed, not just wiped).  I'll probably use one or two to go with our prefolds, but won't buy anymore inserts.

That will get better once your LO starts eating solids and poops become more ploppable.

  • Yay!  Love them. It is what we use daily for daycare and what we take when heading out of the house.  The only thing I am not a fan of is the poop is not contained as well as with pockets.  Their bottoms get a lot more messy. because it does not soak in as much.

  • I want to love them, but they don't work for us at all. I try about once a week. Like an idiot I bought a ton of them expecting them to work, my mistake. From reading other posts I guess I have a compression issue but I can't seem to fix it. Pee just runs out of them. However I do love the covers with prefolds.

  • I think most AI2s with reusable shells (BB, flips, grovia) don't work so hot until the poo is less runny.  I mean, they usually hold it in, but you have to wipe the cover.  BB wasn't a good fit for my guy, but I will say they would be the easiest to quickly wipe (grovia has mesh..).

I'm probably selling mine soon if you are interested.  I only have the M inserts.

  • Once S started only pooping once a day/every other day, I really liked them.  Otherwise, as pp said, we were going through covers like made b/c the poops were getting all over the covers.  I'm still not completely crazy about the way the PUL covers kind of stick to her skin but they are highly functional for when we are out of the house.  They take up very little space in the diaper bag and the hemp inserts are really absorbent for us.

  • I really love our Best Bottoms - they're our primary CD.  Yes, when baby is smaller and poo is more loose it will more easily get on the shell.  This is true with any AI2.  However now that LO is bigger and poops only a couple of times a day in addition to it not being as loose, we use maybe 2, occasionally 3 shells a day.  The inserts are absorbant and trim, and are very easy for being on the go because they take up so little room in the diaper bag.  The only thing I wish they'd change is the exposed PUL.  Like someone above mentioned, especially in warm weather it sticks a bit to LO's skin.  But he doesn't seem bothered by it, and it being exposed like that does allow the shell to be wiped down between insert changes more easily.  Overall its not a dealbreaker.  We're very happy with them!

  • Thanks everyone! I think I'm gonna try them and GroVia. DS is 7 months and has hard poops, usually after his first bottle, so I think it should work out!
