I know there's really no way for anyone to know if I am feeling the baby move, but I thought maybe some 2nd+ time moms could give me a general idea.
I feel flutters right above my pubic area toward the center of my abdomen, usually when I'm laying down and being still. It just feels like something moving a centimeter or two, or sometimes it feels like little pokes against my abdomen. Sometimes I think it's gas, but a lot of the time it's not at a time when I have gas (not to mention gas has never really felt like this).
I know my uterus is rising up because bending at the hips feels so weird now, like there's pressure right above my pubic area. But, is it just wishful thinking that I could already feel the baby?
Re: Am I feeling it move??
I'm only a couple of days ahead of you, and I've been feeling the same thing. I didn't notice it until I pulled my pajama pants down and let them sit around my hips since having things on my stomach hurts. Having something pressing right above my pelvis made me notice a couple little flutters here and there. It doesn't feel anything like gas, so I just assumed it was a baby flutter. Even if it's wishful thinking.
Edit: I should say that when I was pregnant with my first, I didn't feel anything until 20 weeks or so.
Truthfully, most first time moms don't feel movement until around 18-24 weeks. It might be, but not very likely. More likely at this point, its your intestines moving around to give room for your expanding uterus or gas bubbles in your intestines. But, who knows. You might just be oddly lucky to feel it so soon.
ETA: just so you know, gas often feels different when you are pregnant compared to when you are not because digestion is slowed down and often you will feel it moving around in your intestines when usually you don't when you aren't pregnant.
Your posts are so well-written and thoughtful, even news I don't want to hear sounds okay.
Thanks for the info. I figured it was more hopes than reality. Still, I keep looking at fruit thinking, "How could you not feel this moving inside of you?"
After DS was born, from time to time I would have sensations that felt JUST like the baby moving. It would make be pause for second, then I'd laugh because obviously it was just gas.
I think PP put it well, with everything inside of you shifting around and your digestion changing, there are lots of new sensations. At this stage it PROBABLY is not the baby moving. With DS, I first felt it around 16 weeks, which is pretty early. It felt like butterflies.
It's so true!! I had forgotten that. Such a weird sensation. It took me off guard too. After birth, the digestion is still getting back on track and all the internal organs have to go back to their original places.
And, jfischer: glad you don't mind my less than good news posts. You are a good sport. SOON you WILL feel your sweet LO!
