Two Under 2

sound machine

Does anyone have a sound machine that they really like for LO's room? My DS really likes the mobile that he had, that now we just have the music/projection part up on his crib. We are looking to transition him to a toddler bed before DD is born in Nov. DS will be about 22 months. So I'm thinking a sound machine that also projects would be nice for him as he currently likes the music and lights and to help block out the noise of baby DD crying.

Re: sound machine

  • We have this model: https://www.amazon.com/Homedics-SS-3000-Soundspa-Lullaby-White/dp/B000QTSW64/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1312061303&sr=8-2

Plays a few different sounds, the volume is really adjustable, and projects 3 different rotating discs (jungle theme, underwater theme, and one other, I forget). My only complaint is that the discs stop rotating after a while. We bought a second for DD2. I think you may be able to find it cheaper elsewhere.

  • That is the one I was looking at online, but there seem to be some negative reviews with the projector not working very long.

Our projector worked for about 6 months...BUT i only used it when DS was 2 and became afriad of the dark. I think its distracting for an infant. The sound machine was more important for me that it was loud enough to block noise. We set it on rain. I have two, one in each room, and then I have another one that its more white noise in DDs room too. The more the better in this tiny house! You can get the one above at bed bath and beyond and use a 20% off coupon so it makes it about $16.

We have two of these.  The projector doesn't totally stop working, it just stops rotating.  So we actually still turn it on and use it as a night light.  I love this machine, though, and if we needed another, I would buy it again.

This. We have ours set to a fish (DD loves fish). She actually asks for it every naptime (it doesn't get dark enough to show in the room).

We also have this one. Somewhere in this house we have 4 of them. One of them has died and on the other 3 the projector doesn't spin anymore (though it has light still). One of the ones that stopped spinning did start rotating again months later for about a week...and then stopped again. To be honest, it's more of a nightlight than a projection to entertain the kids. They are inexpensive enough to replace if they die or the projection stops...also inexpensive enough to buy another if you happen to leave town without it (we've done this, lol). I like that it packs easily for travel when we do remember it. We are really very happy with them, despite the poor projector.
