DS has a ton of toys and I've been trying to organize everything and store some in boxes for later use.  He really doesn't play with his toys these days, all he wants to do is be outside or running around the house.  The toys he does play with for a few minutes at a time are usually things that move (matchbox cars, remote control helicopters, etc.).  Should I bother keeping things like Melissa and Doug toys...wooden puzzles with shapes and animals, or those wooden trains that fit together with lots of pieces and you pull on a string? Also, he has lots of train tracks but all he does is take the track apart rather than playing with them.  Is that something that might change when he's around 2 1/2 or 3 years old? And final question: lego/mega blocks.  If he's never really played with it do you think he will get interested in them someday?

Re: Need advice on downsizing toy collection
def an age thing. My DS who turned 3 last month has been doing the wooden puzzels for what seems like forever. He probably got really into them around 2. and is currently doing 30 pc puzzles. He LOVES creating his own train track layout and legos are one of his favorites! A lot of those sound like toys that he just hasn't hit age wise yet.
