I had Tate on UP&UP's version of Enfamil. He was only pooping every other day and seemed to have to really strain. I had heard that Enfamil could be constipating, so I decided to try the UP&UP Similac version. He got a rash on his tummy that has gotten worse. I called the pedi today but the office was closed (which really annoyed me) and b/c the rash doesn't seem to bother him, I didn't use the answering service to get a doctor to call me back. He has an appointment Tuesday but I might run out before then. I'm trying to decide if I should switch back or if he will likely get used to the new formula.
What say BOTB?
Re: Switching formula question
Have you tried the non-target brands of formula?
I know they are virtually the same, but there are couple small differences, that could ultimately be the culprit for your problems. I tried Up and Up because LO had been doing okay and it was awful.
I know a lot of people like it, but it doesn't work for everyone.
Oh, and to answer your question- I would probably go to the one that makes him to most comfortable. If he is very uncomfortable with the constipation- I would stick to the one you are on, but if the rash is itvhy and he seems worse, maybe switch back.
I don't know, neither one seem like a good option...I hope you find something that works soon!
ps- I had a lot of luck on goodstart.

No, just tried the generic (except for some RTF Similac when he was first born to supplement). I think I was probably reading too much into the first one he was on and probably should not have tried switching. Now I'm wondering if it will do more harm to switch back or if I should give it a little time. Ultimately I will consult the pedi at his appt. on Tuesday, but I was curious about other's experiences with switching and any reactions that may have come from it.
Thanks for the GS rec. If the pedi thinks that both the rash and poop warrant another formula, I will give it a try.
LO never had a rash from Up and Up but he certainly did have constipation. But I think that was the Similac version of Up and Up..
I don't know, he was on 7 different formulas before we landed on the one that finally worked.
