Can we talk about this?
I'm beginning to suspect that Isabelle has it. But i'm honestly not sure. She started out ok... she was a spitter for sure. But in the last 2-3 weeks shes really started spitting alot more and having projectile vomit that covers both of us and fills the receiving blanket. We both constantly stink of milk and i've almost always got a spot of white crusty on my shoulder. I have a massive stain on my beige sofa now too because she puked so bad it went up and over the cloth and onto the arm.
She spits and pukes before i can move her up to burp her. She's puked on the breast. She sometimes gets really agitated and angry while trying to eat and will suck suck screeeeeeeeammm repeat. She will also flail her arms and legs around like crazy and i have heard her stomach gurgle and make wild noises.
She has the hiccups 3-4 times a day. And they will start up to 30 min after eating. I feel like i could pat and rub her back all day and it wouldn't make them not happen. She's began having bright yellow globs in her spit up from time to time too.
After filling the 3rd cloth and having a 3rd outfit today i've decided i think i should make an appointment for her to see the Dr. sooner then later. We have an appointment scheduled for Aug 18th. But i think that's too long to wait. But i'm honestly not sure. She still looks good. She had gained weight. So i know shes keeping enough down that she's growing. But i just feel like this Puketacularness isn't right.
Anyone else have a pukey LO or have confirmed Relfux?
Re: Reflux?!
This sounds like us, we went in at the start of this week (the puke was getting bad). LO is now on medication for reflux hoping that it will help, and that he will soon grow out of it. Though from my research it will take a bit for the medication to even work. We're still having massive spittups, but certainly not as many (at least it doesn't seem like it). We were more worried about any long term damage being done, as LO is gaining weight fine, just spitting up a ton.
I say it is worth going in. If your doctor finds something different, let me know since this is exactly us. I hope that it gets better soon!
C has reflux. And everything you described is what she was going through before the doctor gave us some meds. Throwing up all the time, and filling up burp cloths almost instantly. Getting throw up all over her clothes, my clothes, the chair/couch. I mean everywhere. Sometimes it would almost shoot out of her mouth. Projectile.. lovely.
At almost every feeding she would do exactly what you were saying suck suck scream. Arch her back and just scream and then find it again and start sucking. When she would scream her little arms and legs would just be flailing about and kicking so fast.
We told the doctor all of this and they had us try a couple of things before starting her on the medication. (I hate that she is on medicine already...). They wanted us to have her eat slower. So since she is ebf, I would let her suck for a minute or two and then make her take a break. (we give her a paci, so I would have her suck on that for a minute). And then let her back on the breast for a minute or two. This seemed to help a little. She didn't throw up on my chest as often after I tried this technique, but she still threw up every time I moved her to burp..
So anyways, they gave us some medicine and it really has helped a lot.
I would suggest going to see your doctor as soon as you can. Or call them and tell them all the symptoms you're dealing with. They might call you in some meds to help get things under control.
I'm SO so sorry you're dealing with this. It's awful. I know.
I hope it gets better!
Thanks Ladies. Im sorry you all have this happening too. But its good to know im not alone and there is help out there. Todays shes been pretty miserable. She hasnt slept longer then 30 min at a time. I'll call Tuesday morning to get her in. I hate that Monday is a holiday right now.
I'm trying to cut out dairy. But i forget from time to time. And i'm working on recording how she feeds and what im eating. I'll try making her have more breaks while feeding too. Atleast by the time we get in to see the Dr we can say we tried some things.
Thanks.
