1st Trimester

What else is dangerous?

I have learned from friends or shear happenstance about a several things we should avoid during pregnancy. I think I am all set on the foods and medications to avoid thanks to my doctor's advice and previous posts. I know that nail polish with DBP, formaldehyde or toluene should be avoided and hair coloring is controversial but definitely a no-no in the first trimester...

My question is....anything else random I might come across in my daily life that could harm LO? TIA!

Glad to hear about the hair dying! I just got mine done last weekend before I new I was pregnant. I was only 5 DPO, though, so I wasn't too worried about it anyway. But, I think my next appointment is towards the end of my 1st tri. I was thinking abouy moving it back, but maybe I won't now. I'll have to ask my midwife.

As for other things to possibly avoid...I have been reading about skin care products (I'm addicted to Philosophy Stick out tongue) and what's ok and what's not. So far I have read that retinols/retinoids should be avoided. Also, according to an article online, salicylic acid products should only be used sparingly one or two times a day. I have a couple blemishes and the only thing I have on hand is stuff with salicylic acid in it. I'll have to ask my midwife about that, too.

Thanks for the great question! I was wondering the same thing. Good luck in your first tri and beyond!
