Miscarriages

I know everyone is different and some people get it on the first try. I was wondering how many miscarriages some have had before they have had a succesful one? I have had three. My doctor started with the first step of blood work and did an internal u/s to see if I check out ok. Not sure if it is bad luck or something else.

I think you said it best-- everyone is different.  I have had one m/c followed by a healthy pregnancy and am now pregnant again.  I have heard of women who have 3-4 then have a healthy pregnancy, you hear the story about the woman who has 7 and then finally has a healthy pregnancy, and unfortunately there are those who simply can not sustain a healthy pregnancy for no apparent reason.  I guess I would try to remain positive and maintain a good relationship with your doctor, he/she can provide you with much better information and advice.

I had five before my daughter. But this pregnancy was due to medical intervention - we ran recurrent pregnancy loss testing after the fourth loss and I was found to have a clotting disorder (MTHFR) that was affecting my body's ability to absorb FA. In addition, my estrogen levels are elevated and that was also causing issues.

The cycle started w/ Gonal-F injections to hold off ovulation, Lovenox injections to deal w/ the MTHFR, and a host of other treatments to give the pregnancy the best shot possible at being healthy.

All that to say - it could be bad luck, it could be something going on. The only way to have a clear answer on that is to see an RE and have the RPL panel run.

I have actually switched doctors. So we will see. That is what he said that some have several and then end up with a healthy one. Wish me luck!!! I hope this is finally it!!! 4th times a charm right???

I've had 2 miscarriages then the third time i became pregnant my Doctor put me on Progesterone for 3 months. It was a success and I ended up having a healthy baby boy.  He is now 4 years old and i just now found out im pregnant again. I have reservations whether this one will be a success without Progesterone again so I will have to consult my Doctor.
