My doctor's office has never offered to do a beta. I've scheduled my first appointment for August 25 but it would be great to have some reassurance that my HCG levels look good. Has anyone requested a beta when one wasn't offered or suggested?

Re: Requesting a Beta?
I've done it before, but your doctor has to be pretty cool. They get paid for doing the test, so it's not usually that hard to get them to do it. Most offices will run a qualitative blood test on request, but that doesn't give you your beta. If you are not high risk, you might have to convince them that you are just sooo stressed and freaking out that you won't be able to relax without that little bit of assurance. Cry if you can.
Or, if your doctor isn't buying it and honesty is not a concern, you could tell them you're spotting and seem to have some tenderness in your lower abdomen. They'll do a blood test STAT - you'll get same day results though your doctor may send you to a hospital to get it done.
Not that it's ever right to lie to your doctor or abuse the lab triage process.
