  • you're going to have a hard time finding one, as it is now illegal to sell a crib that does not meet the current crib safety standards.

Exactly...all of those drop-side cribs were recalled a few months ago.

  • Ditto to what the other girls said - your chances of getting a drop-side crib are next to nil at this point because of the whole recall and ban on their sale (including from thrift shops)...  Granted, a drop-down is what we purchased for DD when she was born and we're still planning to use it AS-IS.

Exactly. I have a drop-side crib in my garage right now, but I wouldn't feel right giving it to anyone since it's been recalled. I stopped using it before the whole big recall and even then wouldn't pass it down to anyone. Sorry.

I think it's going to be very hard for you. Indifferent

  • I know they banned the drop down cribs.  Personally I feel it is silly.  They have had drop downs for more than 40 years.  I know this because I am 41, I had one as a baby and I am fine.  It only takes one.  I know that, but I feel it should be a choice not some stupid government deal.  Just like washers can no longer have a lid that doesn't lock down.  (STUPID) just my opinion. It won't be long and our "land" won't be a free country.   I am not stupid, I know the dangers of a drop down. My children are miracles to me and I would never put them in danger,  I watch my children carefully, a drop down is not as dangerous as other things.  What about a kitchen aid mixer?  Can't a child get their hand caught in that and possibly loose their hand?  JUST MY TWO SENSE.  I happen to like drop downs.  Besides that I am not a sue happy person.  I just like what I like.  Why can't I buy one and if I want I can fix the drop down to a stationary?
