Baby Names

Adrian?

My DH suggested this name a while back and I voted it down.  I thought it sounded too much like a "girl's name" (Adrianne).  But...it's growing on me...especially since we traveled to Spain in June and met a lot of "Adri?ns".  We will probably be sending our kids to a Spanish Immersion school, so I want names that will sound good in English or Spanish (I actually prefer the Spanish pronunciation:  Ah-dree-AHN)

MN would be Jeffrey (for my DH...we could use AJ as a nn) or William (for my dad)

Thoughts?

I can't help but think of the movie Rocky any time I hear this name, boy or girl.

  • I like the name a lot, but I don't think the Spanish pronounciation sounds right with either of your mn choices.  The English pronounciation sounds good with both of them.

  • i don't hate it, i don't love it. i've known 2 (a female and a male) and the boy was a big wuss. not that the name has ANYTHING to do with it...but that's just my association.

  • Love the name, but whenever I mention it to others it gets shot down. I think it's quite a strong name and I associate it with Adrian Grenier (hottie on Entourage) ;) Can anyone explain the hate on for Adrian?
  • love adrian for a boy.
