I am 11 weeks and did my first doppler this morning. I picked up the heartbeat and it ranged anywhere from the 90's-150's. At times it sat in the 90's. Is it too early? Was I not in the right spot? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I just played with mine yesterday and you can tell which is your HB and which is the baby by feeling your own pulse, either on your groin or jugular. Your HB can be detected near your pelvic bones and is usually the 90's to 110. (That was just what I was experiencing yesterday). Once I found the baby's HB I felt my HB and it was slower than the baby's so I knew that was it. I counted it out and got 149, and the doppler ended up showing 149 as well. It may be a little fainter then your own HB so you may have to really listen for it, I did. Be patient, you will find it!

I just tried again. I got a 150's reading again but could not actually hear the HB. It lasted about 5-10 seconds on the LCD screen. This is frustrating.
This is one of the reasons to do it at the dr because sometimes it is hard to tell the difference and can stress you out. Sometimes they are not in the position you would think.

there are 3 sounds you can pick up. an artery (sounds kinda like a snow storm when you go over it but it will register in that range you heard), your heartbeat, and your babies heartbeat. If you do it again try to feel your pulse while listening to it and see if they are the same. If so, thats your heartbeat. If it got up to 150 I bet your baby's heartrate was around that number....Try again and play with it!

You are exactly right!
