TTC After a Loss 6 Months+

Advice/what to expect: Clomid

Ok ladies, So, I'm almost to the end of my current cycle.  Any day now AF should show her face.  With this looming over my weekend, and me starting a new position at work in a new department, I will also be thinking of Clomid.  If I start my period this weekend I will be taking Clomid early next week.  I'm a little nervous mainly because I'll be in training so I'll have be going through alot of uncertainties and changes.  What should I expect from Clomid?  Moodiness?  Symptoms?  Side affects?  I'm hoping if I'm prepared then I'll be able to disguise it at work.  I don't want my new department to think I'm nutters! lol.

Thanks in advance!!

Re: Advice/what to expect: Clomid

  • *ticker warning*

I did clomid for three cycles and I had a rough time with it, however, I know people who had no side effects. That said I had hot flashes (I made DH sleep in the basement with me because it was too hot in our room) and while I was taking it, I was fine but when the cycle ended I found myself in a crazy bad funk. Good luck!

  • Each cycle was different for me. But each of them had MAJOR irritability. It was bad. My first cycle I had 1 day with a hot flash.... and I think I had headaches during another. But overall the rest of it wasn't that bad. DH wanted to move out until I was "back to normal", but i'd say that was the only real negative side effect.

  • I really didn't have any side effects except for some mild cramping. But it did give me a cyst, which ended up delaying me two cycles. That being said, I'm starting it again tonight so I hope it goes better this time.
  • With the irratibility and moodiness was it only while you were taking it or the entire cycle?  I'm hoping the side effects are only while you're taking it - i can get through anything for 5 days!

Johnny's June-I will be taking it in September-so let me know how it goes for you next month! Good luck!!!

  • The effects for me were irritability and some hot flash type feelings. That said, it went away the day after I stopped taking Clomid, so if you do have any side effects they should be short lived.  Good luck to you!

  • I only have experience with one cycle of 100mg, for the Clomid Challenge, so I'm far from expert, but I had wicked hot flashes and was SUPER b!tchy. It's a good thing it was January. Stick out tongue

For me it started day 2 of the pills, and lasted till maybe 2 days after the pills.

  • Thanks for the info, ladies!  I'm only starting with 50mg, so maybe the side affects will be mild!?!  And thanks for the warning of irritability.  That's not something I think I can afford with my new position and training, but it's good to prepare to maybe keep my mouth shut or to have some sort of reminder to keep me in a reality check! lol.  As far as the hot flashes, it's a freakin ice box in the new office.  I think I could use a hot flash so I don't freeze to death!  And I agree, I can survive anything for 5 days.  AF still hasn't shown, but as soon as she does, Clomid is in the works.  I'll keep you all posted!
