I just started tanning again (just to get some color back) and I have been covering the stretch marks I got from having LO with a towel. Does tanning make stretch marks worse?
I used to tan alot, so i'm not a preachy "tanning is bad" type. BUT, tanning is damaging to your skin, so if you want the stretchmarks to have a chance to lighten or "heal" then tanning is bad for them. You shouldn't expose any type of scar or damaged skin to the sun. Use a fake tanner if you think it will help disguise them.

I am not advocating for you to tan but it does NOT make them worse. I've had stretch marks for a long time because I have a nine year old and I did use to go to tanning beds and it does help to hide them. I don't go tanning anymore because I don't want to end up with skin cancer. I would rather just wear a one piece bathing suit and be around for my kids. If you really want to hide them with tanning I would suggest a spray tan. Not a spray tan from an automated machine (like mystic tan) but go to a salon that does air brush spray tan by hand. They can hide your stretch marks very well and it doesn't look fake though it is a little more expensive.
I'm not tanning to hide the stretch marks, I'm just tanning to get some color back. I don't tan very well in natural sun (I actually just always burn) so I like to go tanning because I don't burn and once I get my color back I will only be going once every couple of weeks. I have been covering my stretch marks because I did read that it can make them appear worse, thanks for the fake tan tip I forgot I read that somewhere!
