I just ordered 5 Flip seconds on clearance. What inserts work best with Flips? Also, Econobums look very similar; what is the difference and which do you prefer? I am not yet totally committed to CDing, but I do want to try it. DH is against it, but I figure I want to have some one size CDs around for occasional use at least, or if we run out of disposables. Thoughts??

Re: Flip vs. Econobum
Flips will need either the Flip brand stay dry inserts or their organic cotton inserts. You could also use any prefolds in them or use them to cover fitted diapers.
A typical pocket diaper insert will not really fit. (think Bum Genius or Fuzzibunz)
The Flip covers are much sturdier than the Econobum, IMO. Doesn't mean the Econobums aren't good. They just might not last as well over time. There are also less snaps at the waist on Econobum covers. Flips have two rows of snaps across the waist, with Econobum there's only one row.
I think it's actually easier to CD full time than part time. Because then you can deal with one larger load of CD laundry than a few covers and prefolds here and there. But I'd say if you got the Flips on clearance, you scored a good deal and you'll probably like them more compared to the Econobums.
My DH wasn't against us CDing, but I handle the poop and laundry lol. He has it pretty easy. But it's not bad at all.
ETA: The Flip covers come in multiple colors, while I think Econobums are only white. If that makes any difference in your decision.

It's the seconds sale...I have ordered from there twice and had fast shipping and I cannot figure out why any of the flips or BGs are seconds.
The seconds are available at Cotton Babies, but they don't come with inserts.
OP, the Econobum covers seem to be much lower quality than Flip covers. The systems are actually pretty different; Econobums are prefolds and covers, and Flips are a hybrid system with inserts (stay dry or organic) and covers with flaps for the inserts. I really like our Flips, but I sold the Econobums we had. The prefolds just seemed way too bulky to fit DD anytime in the near future.

I use flips and econobums with regular prefolds...trifolded. They are my top two favorite covers and very similar. I like the stretch of both.
We have others but I prefer them both over the others.
