Ds just came to me and said he bug bite looks funny. I don't remember actually seeing a bug bite there. It looks like the red angry kind of stretch marks, (dark, not the same as pink lines from infections.) It looks more like an injury to me, and if so I wouldn't worry. He's been at 3 hour day camp this week at a beach, at a playground and also in a shaded beach near woods. It looks like maybe someone twisted his arm. I googled bug bite and stretch marks and only got mederma results. Does this sound like anything scary?
Re: Anyone have something that looks like red stretch marks around a bug bite?
Here's what Dr. Sears says. https://www.askdrsears.com/topics/childhood-illnesses/insect-bites
I'd call the dr. Red streaks/marks aren't good. Maybe it's a spider bite?
I'd get it checked out. It looks vaguely like the 'bullseye' that Lyme can cause. If it's not, I don't think red streaks are normal at all.

DS2 recently had some bug bites that looked different to me...they had a red ring around them and they were lasting forever. Of course I was nervous about Lyme disease and everything, so I took him to the Ped, who referred us to a dermatologist the same day. It turned out that he had a delayed allergic reaction to mosquito bites. I just had to treat it with a topical steroid cream. He most likely will have a reaction like this every time he gets a mosquito bite...but he also will most likely grow out of this allergy in a few years.
His didn't look like your son's, but maybe it could be something like that?
My first thought was scabies.
Get an apt ASAP! Good luck!!
OK. Dr. said it looks unrelated to a bite. He thinks it's broken blood vessels. It DOES look like what was all over my face and chest when I had DS and that was broken blood vessels.
He said it can come from wearing swimmies (he doesn't) a blood pressure cuff, people helping him up onto playground equipment, etc. Possibly his life jacket.
We found a few more spots near there and about 3 in his other arm pit. DS also gets unexplained bruises, but he's a kid. He said it's possible it could be a blood disorder, so watch and see if more pop up. If he gets more in the next few days he wants a blood test. Otherwise, it's probably just an injury.
