eating lunch - ms related

Hi girls! Morning sickness is doing some damage to my budget. Just curious what others do who have it bad? I bring my lunch, but because I usually feel sick around lunch time, whatever I've brought rarely sounds good. I usually crave a taco salad or thai food & anything else makes me want to barf.

Just curious what you do? Do you just buy lunch all the time & think it's only temporary, or do you have any other suggestions? I feel guilty buying lunch out every day.

  • Sounds like me! I brought leftovers to work the other day and ended up getting McDonalds yesterday, and decided to eat it today. Well once again change of plans I ate subway. I feel terrible because Im usually very funny about "wasting" food. Now I just feel like if I do eat something I dont want I will get sick so why not just eat what Im craving at the time. Meanwhile our wallet is suffering. Trust me your not alone!

  • I bring two lunches.  That way I have a little bit of a choice.  I bring something kind of plain like a sandwich and soup.  The other lunch is something a little more varied like nacho chips, cheese and salsa.  I have different little baggies of fruits, veggies, and other sweet/salty snacks to help with whatever weird thing I might be craving.

  • DH and I work together for the same company.  We have lunch out a lot anyway, but we just kind of accept that ms does weird stuff to my appetite, so we'll be eating out more often for lunch or dinner for the next 4 months or so.  Once #2 is born, we'll be homebodies for a while anyway.

  • I'm lucky and work about 7 minutes from home so I normally go home for lunch since I have more options to choose from depending on what I am hungry for. Last week though I ate out three times because what I had in the fridge was NOT doing it for me.

    Perhaps pack a few options? Or make the taco salad fixings at home and cart them in with you.

    I've been in the same boat. I don't have much appetite, so I usually eat by the clock anyway. But, if I want something specific, I do get it. I just don't really enjoy my meals so much anymore, so if I have the opportunity to eat something I really want, I go for it. For example, there is plenty of food in my refridgerator, but I don't want any of it. Right now, I want Cheerios, as soon as I get myself up and going, I'm off to get some. I'm just hoping this is temporary. But it is s hard to eat anything at this point that's totally unappealing  such as the leftover spaghetti in the fridge.
  • I'm in the same boat, I never really know what I will feel like for lunch so I try to pack lots of snacks and then buy a sandwich or something cheaper for lunch. I agree with you I feel super guilty because I never usually buy my lunch. I'm hoping once I'm into the second trimester I can go back to brown bagging it! But at this point I'm just happy I can get anything down.

  • This sounds exactly like me but it's not just lunch, it's dinner too!  I pack lots of snacks but on days when my m/s is good then I want a real lunch so I'll go out and buy something.  It's not something that I can plan because how I'm feeling can change from one minute to the next.  Dinner is the same thing... we can't plan anymore because I never know how I'm going to feel and by the time I realize that I'm hungry it's usually too late to defrost something.

     The way I see it is if I can eat something other than snacks right now then I'll deal with the extra cost.  It's more important that I actually eat when I can and planning is clearly not an option.
