Scheduled for NST today-is this a normal test to order?*updated*

I read online where they will order an NST if there are concerns on oxygen levels, baby moving less or other concerns but I have one scheduled today & other than my amniotic fluid level being on the low side which did double at last weeks appt, is this just a normal test to do?

    I have one scheduled for Friday unless I go into labor before then, but I think they scheduled one for me since I'm officially past my due date.

    I'm obviously not that far along yet, but we got info on this test in our intro packet, so I think it's pretty normal to have done.  GL!

    5 REs + 3 surgical hysteroscopies for septum/lap + 3 failed IUIs
    IVF w/ICSI/AH & acu = BFP!, unexplained spontaneous m/c @ 8w2d (our little girl),
    FET w/acu = BFP!, B/G twins!, lost MP @19w, dx w/funneling cervix @20w,
    twins nearly lost to IC @21w, saved by rescue cerclage, 17P & 16w of bedrest
    Our twins born @36w4d via CS when A came foot first

    I have one scheduled for Friday and Monday because we are at the very end (Monday will actually be past due).  I'm not sure about doing them at 32 weeks - I'd ask your doc if you're wondering about having one at this stage.

    My office is doing NSTs on me weekly starting next appointment (37 weeks) due to my GD. It is well controlled, and I have no other issues, so I assume it is just something they do at my office?

    I've been having bi-weekly NST's since 32 weeks but I think that's common practice for twins at my clinic.
