I thought we were set on Samantha. And I still love that name, so it's not out! I just keeping thinking about Bethany. The middle name will be Jane, because that's a family name. So which sounds better...Bethany Jane or Samantha Jane?
I am going to go with Samantha, because I have never like the name Bethany. I just don't like the sound of it when I say it out loud. I have a very positive association with Bethany too, it's just NMS.
They are both great names. I would go with Samantha!
I personally couldn't go with either name though. I have a sorty aunt who was named bethany. After have 5 kids she met her biological family(Was adopted) and now wants to marry her biological brother. One of her kids names was Samantha and she got pregnant at 16, didn't finish high school and is a druggy. Luckily a name does not define who a person will be. But everytime I hear the name I think of them.
I have to appreciate that neither name is ridiculously popular.
Both are great choices; I like Bethany slightly better, but you can't go wrong either way. And if you and YH are set on Samantha, you should probably stick to it.
I love Samantha and I think Bethany is lovely too (coming from a Beth). I always cringed when people called me Bethany, but mostly because it just wasn't my name. I would stick with Samantha and *save* Bethany for possible future daughter. They would make a great sibset.

I would have to say Bethany because that is my sister's name! (Her FN/MN combo is Bethany Suzanne) I would have to see that even though I am biased, I don't like the name Samantha; it isn't my style.

This. I don't like the "th" sound in names when I say/think of them. Samantha has it too but it bothers me less and I like the nn Sam or Sammie.

I'm not a huge fan of either, but I don't hate them...
I guess I prefer Bethany. I have a few good associations with Bethany.

I am not a fan of Bethany at all. I think that Samantha Jane sounds so adorable!
