dropping nap = night wakingS ??

Help!

DD is in the process of dropping her nap. Problem is, days where she doesn't nap, she is up 4+ times a night.

If she does nap, even 20 minutes, she won't go to sleep until 11-midnight.

Is this normal? Just her body getting used to it? Because I am freaking exhausted and so frustrated from getting woken up so many times at night again! And this is not an exception, it happens pretty much every.single.time.

Re: dropping nap = night wakingS ??

  • It is hard for me to say what exactly has brought on the night wakings.  We got rid of her crib and she stopped napping.  Soon she started waking at night.  Is it the bed, is it the naps?  IDK, I can sympathize though.  Between the baby getting up for the day around 5:00 (or earlier!) most mornings and frequent night wakings from my 3 year old, I am a zombie.  It is getting better though, it is more of an every other night thing now.

  • She is probably adjusting.  Perhaps tweaking the night schedule might help like putting her down a little earlier.  Harmon has nigh wakings when he gets overly tired.

  • Opt for an earlier bed time.

It will shake out- it is hard in the beginning.

We had a period of about a month of no napping- and that equated to waking up at night. It was definitely due to being overly tired.

Then after we figured that out and put her to bed earlier- she slept better at night. And then went back to napping during the day. And the days she napped we opted for a little later bedtime. no naps = earlier bed time.
