12 week Dr. appt question

I was able to get my Doctors office to squeeze me in this Friday, I kept calling checking on cancellations and got in! A little obnoxious I know but I want in, now! For those that have been to this appt do they take blood? What else do they do?  I met with a Nurse Practitioner at my OB's office at about 8 weeks and they basically drained my body of blood, to the point where I almost fainted, etc etc etc. Not a good experience. Do I need to prepare myself for this again or anything else I need to know?  Thanks for your help.

Re: 12 week Dr. appt question

  • All they did after my initial nurses visit was the pap, breast exam, and dating u/s.

  • For mine they did a pap, breast exam, and a consultation (questions/comments session). No blood given!

  • Mine was super basic. I had the pap and blood drawn last time. They just checked my weight, blood pressure, urine sample, listened to baby's HB with doppler and answered any questions. I think the actual appointment took about 20 minutes. Good luck and let us know how it goes:)

  • I just had to pee in a cup and then they checked my weight and blood pressure. I didn't get a pap or a breast exam. They did give me a lab slip to go give blood, but that was for anytime in the week or so after my appointment.

Good luck! Hope it all goes well.

  • I have mine on Friday, but it may be more inclusive than yours since we are getting the NT test and blood work done.  We opted to have the screening for downsyndrome and to have me checked to see if I'm a  carrier for CF.  My last appointment was an internal exam, ultrasound, patient history, blood work, peeing in a cup, etc.  I was told to expect to pee in a cup at every appointment so my guess is I'll pee, have blood drawn and have a very thorough ultrasound.
