Re: Any experience with ReBath or Bath Fitters?

  • We used Bath Fitters- the tub is nice except we have a window in the shower area and there is so much moisture we will always end up with the black on the calk. The mold does not go through but it's UGLY! We need it recalked but they have to come out and do it and I'm sure it's not cheap. If we do it ourselves our warranty will be voided. Sooooo it's been 6 years and it's ugly and when we want to move or I get a little extra money i plan to have it recalked. (just around the tub and the window) They were very nice and very clean. Price wasn't too bad- I looked into having it reglazed and this was a better deal in the long run.

  • I did not end up doing it, but their rep was very honest with me and said that the cost for what I was looking at doing was not all that dissimilar to replacing the tub and wall surround independently. He had a bunch of reasons why Bath Fitters was better, but  I would have preferrred using a contractor where I had more color options, etc. Although in the end, I decided to just save the $4k ;)
  • We used ReBath. It was kind of expensive (I cant remember exactly, but I think it was a little over $5K? That was covering the tub and the 3 walls near the shower). But it looks a million times better than it did before. And we have the issue with the caulk getting black mold on it as well, but we called ReBath and they told us to mix bleach with baking soda (to make a paste) and then cover the spots with plastic wrap to make it stay and leave it overnight. The next day we took it all off and rinsed it away and all the black was gone. Oh, and we paid the extra money to get a removable shower head and that has been such a life saver with the kids! Makes bath time so easy.

The quality is good, we havent had any issues. And the people who came to our house were professional (the salesman was a little pushy...but we knew we wanted it, so it was fine). And the people who came and did the work were professional and fast- done in 1 day.
