Timing of daycare?

Hi ladies - have a question regarding the timing of daycare.

My EDD ia 2/6/12.  I will be taking 3-4 months off with this LO, and my DD will be home as well.  Right now, my retired mom watches DD all day but around 2 year mark, we want her to go to daycare - more for socialization than anything (none of my friends have small kids, and there are no other small kids in the family).  She turns 2 in June - right after I go back to work. 

My fear is that it'll be too much for her: new baby, mom at home for a few months, then back with grandma w/the new baby sibling AND then she gets shuttled off to daycare.

Any suggestions on timelines, or does anyone have experience with this and can offer some advice?  We aren't deadset on her going back at EXACTLY 2 years old, just not sure what would have the least 'traumatic' effect on her.

Could you maybe start her half days a couple of days a week while you are on maternity leave so she gets used to it?

Ooh.  That's a good idea!  Hadn't thought of that.  I had thought of delaying her entry but I like your idea better.  Thank you!
