What exactly do you feed your kid for lunch and dinner?
I'm at a lost, Ike wants NOTHING to do with purees, he much rather feed himself, and will flat out refuse me trying to feed him with a spoon. So what are you feeding them table food wise?
What are good ideas for the little one's to try?
Right (sadly) all he will eat are Gerber Puffs, because he will feed himself.
Re: Lunch and Dinner
my son has been the same way, only on the puffs b/c he likes to feed himself.
he eats yo-baby yogurt for lunch with 1/2 slice of cheese and deli turkey.
Dinner he eats whatever we eat, I just make sure he eats a veggie first love peas b/c he can feed himself them.
toast w/cream chez, cheerios, pasta, rice, avacado, pancakes, applesauce, scrambled eggs are some things we have tried and have had good luck with.
But I must agree with you, this eating table food thing is tough, b/c it's like you never know if they will eat it, throw it on the floor, or just plain refuse it.
good luck to you.
Some of my son's favorites are chicken, turkey meatballs, scrambled egg, greenbeans, carrots, avocado, shredded cheese, corn, blackbeans, watermelon, peach, cantaloupe, bread/toast (with hummus or all-fruit spread), waffle, and cheerios.
Some others things he may or may not eat, depending on his mood: chickpeas, lima beans, cubed cheese, cucumber, kiwi, rice, and whole wheat ravioli.
I always give him puree's first, and then follow up with finger foods. He pretty much eats what we eat.
We loves pancakes. ham, turkey and chicken, both lunch meat and pieces of what I've cooked. Potatoes, green beans, peas. He loves red beans. Sweet potatoe fries. all manner of fruits, currently peaches because that is what I got at the farmer's market this week. pasta with a little bit of sauce (for the pasta get the cork screw kind because it is easier for them to pick up, and cook it longer than you would for you so it is soft).
Cheese sticks (I shread them for him). the Gerber graduates ravioli, it is bit size and doesn't have any sauce so it isn't ridiculously messy. Cheerios are huge at my house.
This weekend I even tore up pizza into tiny pieces and gave him that.
Here are some of the foods we give DD:
Mango, banana, avocado, pear, apple, blueberries, strawberries, peaches, pineapple, peas, steamed broccoli florets, asparagus tips or carrots, sweet potato, corn, spinach.
Cherrios, cheese (goat, cheddar, colby jack, mozzerella etc.), whole grain toast with hummus or fruit baby food, pasta, yogurt (YoBaby or Greek), turkey, chicken, ham, rice, black or red beans, pancakes.
