A Pea In The Pod

Is damn expensive! Even their clearance is way above my price range :( They have a ton of cute stuff too. I was hoping to get started on some fall and winter clothing.

Where are you guys shopping? I tried Target but I really didn't like their selection, we don't have a Gap Maternity close. Booo I'm kind of sad.

Re: A Pea In The Pod

  • I just won 4 items on ebay, consisting of dresses and a cardigan from Old Navy, the Gap, and Motherhood. The average amount I spent on each was $24 with shipping and handling.

  • Motherhood Maternity is the cheaper version of APITP. They are owned by the same company. I have heard that Motherhood isn't very good quality but it doesn't really have to last that long, does it!

  • The outlets are good, motherhood maternity----one has stuff on sale alot, but its very ugly and midwest looking

but I have gotten REALLY cute stuff at : www.asos.com

then click on maternity, then click clearance, I love that their stuff is fashionable and not dumpy looking.----

also I get great stuff and high end consignment shops that have maternity sections

  • I agree with you on A Pea in the Pod. I shop at Motherhood maternity, and got a catalog in the mail featuring the two stores and Destination maternity. I was shocked to see 40 dollar t-shirts and 80 dollar jeans at A Pea in the Pod. Motherhood seams to be a lot more reasonable.

  • I get all my maternity clothes at motherhood, they have my size whih most places dont and you can usually find some good stuff on sale. I did buy ONE shirt at Pea in a Pod which I wouldnt ever set foot in because of the price but I got the shirt 75% off so it was 40.00. Still normally out of my price range but my husband let me have one "splurge" maternity item this time since I only shopped clearance last time and basically bought what was on sale, not what I wanted or thought was cute. If you're looking for fall and winter Items, Sweaters worked really well for me during pregnancy, they stretched enough for my growing belly but still looked cute.

  • I'm a huge sweater whore! That is what I've been looking for more knowing that I'll be in a lot of yoga type pants because it's way more comfortable and then throw a longer sweater on and you have a really cute look.

So I've been clearance shopping sweaters everywhere but figured I'd try out some of the maternity places first. Now I really like the $80 sweater :(

Forever 21 has a few maternity clothes for cheap, but you've got to order them online.

  • I have bought quite a few peices from Pea in the Pod. They have held up very well through my pregnancy with my son and still look brand new this time around. If you're planning on more children, then I'd suggest spending a little bit more now and using it for both pregnancies. My stuff from Old Navy, Target, and Motherhood didn't make it through to this pregnancy...quality is horrible. That said, since this is likely my last kid, I will be buying more Motherhood and Old Navy tops, since they are cheaper.

  • You can order from gap maternity online! I just got some pants and a shirt there and I think their clothes are very true to size. I'm in the same size mat jeans as regular! I did buy a ton of stuff at Pea in a Pod sale section since it's all fall stuff. I did NOT like target! Yuck! it made me feel horrible about myself!

  • If it is your first pregnancy and you are hoping for another baby after this I would really splurge on a couple of big ticket items that are good quality and will last. I bought some Citizens of Humanity jeans at APITP, and granted, they were extremelly expensive, they still looks awesome now with my second! They had great fit and I wore them all the time and post- baby recovery too. It's worth it to have a few pieces you look great and feel good in. A few basics from old navy are great too, but buy a couple of quality trendy pieces that you can go out in. You might be like me and need it for your self esteem :) You can also borrow from friends and buy stuff off of kijiji (and if you buy designer clothing it is incredibly easy to sell it on craigslist or where ever for a great price because other mommas will want it!).

  • Try Motherhood Maternity- they're a sister company to Pea in a Pod, at half the cost.  Also I got Gap Maternity stuff online- just order in your regular Gap size.

  • My friend suggested Kohls. I have not been yet, but I am hoping to check it out this weekend.

I also scored a few really cute shirts at a nice Goodwill store over the weekend. One was Pea in the Pod and was only $6!!!!

I'm really excited! I'm going to the Pea In The Pod factory this weekend (I live where it is made), and there I can get it really cheap. I wanted to buy lots of it and sell it online, but they've told me that I can only buy a certain amount of clothes per month, so it's all for me!  :(

I'll tell you how I did next week!

  • I buy my jeans from APITP. I think good jeans are tremendously important :) They are completely worth it to me. Over my past 2 pregnancies- I have 3 pairs of 7's and 2 pairs of Joe's. I literally wear jeans everyday come Fall. Maternity jeans stretch out so quickly I feel they make me look fat. The ones from Gap were awful. They'd fall off after an hour. I have a few tops from there also, but they don't really have day to day staples.  It's more dresses and going out maternity clothes.

  • Would you believe I just googled it and found APITP outlet 15 minutes from me. Never even knew it existed!
