Today, without thinking enough into I spread 2 big bags of scotts ez seed turf builder on my lawn. (no mask and no gloves...just dumped it from the bag). I am 12 weeks pregnant. The bag says safe for children and pets. I even called the help-line and was told "I should be ok." For some reason, until I can call my doctor's office tomorrow, I am sitting here worrying. Has anyone else used this while pregnant before?
Re: Scotts EZ seed turf builder??
Thanks, your reassurance helps ease my mind:)
Did you eat it? No? I'm sure you're fine.
The reason they say wear gloves while gardening is because of the risk of toxoplasmosis (sp?) that is a result of cats possibly using your garden as a litter box. I think the stress you are putting on yourself is probably worse than handling some grass seed.
As a Scotts employee I apologize if the information you received caused you to worry. Ideally gloves should be worn when using this product, but this product should not pose a health risk to you when used as you described. If you have further concerns feel free to contact us at 1(80)543-8873 and we can arrange to email or mail you a material safety data sheet for the product. You will find the Scotts EZ seed contains a mulch material, grass seed, and a small amount of starter fertilizer.
