Nursing while pregnant - cramping

Normal? It fades as the session progresses and isn't anything more intense than I had with sex my first pregnancy. I'm so paranoid about BFing causing problems!

Re: Nursing while pregnant - cramping

  • How far along are you? I have read that this can occur later in pregnancy. I am nursing my toddler and 11 wks and I've not experienced any cramping, but everyone is different!!

I nursed DS throughout my pg with DD, and I had some cramping off and on.  I might have cramping for a week or two and then none for a month or so before it came back.  Definitely talk to your OB about it, but mine generally wasn't concerned unless it was extreme cramping and/or there was spotting associated with it.  Did you have any trouble with PTL with your previous pgs?  That was the big red flag for my OB, and since I didn't have any trouble with it, he was less concerned.

I had no complications with the last pregnancy at all. Like I said, after sex for the first 16 weeks or so I had slightly uncomfortable cramping, but no spotting or other issues associated with it (which is why this didn't concern me too much). I just got my BFP this week. Based on my last pregnancy it seems my uterus is rather irritated the first trimester. I also had a lot of cramping not related to sex or anything last time.

I have to call to make my first appointment soon and I had another question I was planning on asking, so I'll add this to the list, thank you! I actually nursed her this morning with no issue, so maybe it will be an off and on thing.
