probably a dumb question abt lazy rivers...

so today's Baltimore Groupon was for a water park. I haven't been to the beach or a pool ALL SUMMER and it just dawned on me that time is ticking! And I want to put some miles on that nice maternity bathing suit that's just been hanging in my closet!! lol. So anyway, I was thinking about taking my teenage nieces so they can do all the fun water slides & whatnot that i obviously know I won't be able to do. But question, I should be ok doing the lazy river right? When I take them I'll be 36 weeks and some change. I haven't been having any PTL probs and I don't start getting checked for dilation or anything until my next appt on the 8th. I tried calling the water park to see what their policies were since I can't find them on the website but of course trying to get an actual human on the line was like me trying to turn water into wine...not happenin. Guess i'll try again tomorrow, but just wanted to see what you ladies thought.

  • My husband and I took our 2 boys to the water park last month. I went on the lazy river and in the wave pool without the waves and sat in the kiddie pools with my youngest son. It was really nice to get out and enjoy summer. I think you will be fine.

  • As long as your Dr. hasn't told you not to go in the pool, you should be fine.

    I'm pretty jealous, actually.

  • Jealous! I want to go to a water park!

Just make sure you drink a lot of water and slather on that sunscreen.

  • I'm actually going to a water park this weekend with my family. I plan on staying in the lazy river and wave pool the whole time!! Floating down the lazy river sounds wonderful right now!! Have fun!

  • I went to our university pool and went around the lazy river last week with DD... and I was 3cm dialated at the time. I honestly hadn't thought about it, and my doc hasn't said not to go swimming either.

  • I actually called my doctor about this question on Friday bc I was going to a water park.  I was 37 wks pregnant, dialated to 1, and 50% effaced.  My doctor said that the wave pool and lazy river were completely fine.  She did restrict me from going down any big water slides though.  Also, you may want to make sure that you drink LOTS of water due to the heat, dehydration, and general exhaustion that summer swimming can do.

  • It isn't a  dumb  question  because  believe  it or  not, most water parks  don't allow  pregnant women  in the  lazy  river,  as  well as  persons  with  back  injuries. .We took our son and I assumed I  could  spend  the  majority of  the  day  in  the  lazy  river cooling off. No  such luck.  It seems  stupid  I  know,  but  I  guess it's  a  liability  issue.  I  know when  we were in  atlantis  I  went,  but  was  also only 12 weeks  and  barely  showing.  Kind  of  hard  to  miss now.
