Hi Ladies,
I went for my growth scan today and baby is measuring in the 61st percentile. They say she is 6.8lbs at 34 weeks. I also had my AFI measured and it was 26cm. Just a bit over normal. Dr asked me if I had GD and I said that I failed the 1hr but passed the 3hr. Has this happened to anyone else. He didn't seem concerned and just said we would continue to monitor the situation. I am freaking out here. TIA
Re: Measuring Big and AFI 26cm at 34 weeks
I wouldn't really worry just yet, the u/s this late is notorious for being inaccurate. I had one at 28wks where she measured 64%, then 33wks / 44%, then at 39wks they had her at a very average 7lbs 13oz.
There's a lot of time for fluctuations, and LO's will often grow in spurts, then their weight balances out over the next weeks.
I don't have any experience with the high fluid levels, sorry, but I'm sure they'll do follow up AFI's to keep an eye on it. I've been going for weekly AFIs for the past 3wks, but the level is always the same (10).

I have had roughly 3 ultrasounds now since 20 weeks and no one has said anything about anything looking abnormal with stomach or kidneys or anything else. I had a fetal echo to check babies heart at 20 weeks bc I have a heart defect and that was normal. My MFM uses the AFI measurement of 5cm -25cm as the normal range. I guess that is why he is saying it's just a bit elevated. He said he doesn't get really concerned until it's around 30cm. I am just going on what they are saying. This is the first time my #'s have been this high. He also told me that this is the week that the #'s should peak. I am trying to be optimistic, but all the things you read can be horrifying. Thanks for your response:)
My fundal height and baby measured large from 20 weeks on, however I was told growth u/s can vary as much as a pound. The last growth ultrasound estimated him at 9 pounds 8 ounces (2 days prior to his birth) and he was born at 9 pounds 2 ounces. I also had extra amniotic fluid - 28cm - so due to this and the large baby they tested me for a second time for GD at 34 weeks. With both times I passed the one hour with a low score. Turns out high AFI runs in my family and we were just meant for a large baby! He was born with no health issues; because he was over a certain weight they had to monitor his blood glucose levels closely to ensure he didn't become hypoglycemic, but that was never a problem. We have a beautiful, chubby healthy boy! Good luck to you and try not to worry too much
