have you heard anything about being furloughed?

DH works for the govt and they are starting to prepare for a shutdown and word on the street is that they are being told they should work (even on furlough) if they want to possibly get back pay

I work for DoD, and we haven't heard anything. Last time we where told if the budget was not approved we would not come in to work, and not get paid.

DH is TSA, and they will not be affected by the furlough as far as he knows right now. I know in the DFW area, the only furlough affecting the airports is for cargo inspections and extras like that that should be done so far, but are not have to have to required kind of things. Which is sad, because one would think that cargo inspections would be necessary.

if the debt ceiling is not raised then they will start deciding who/what gets paid....and i am sure (because they love federal workers...feel the sarcasm) that fed workers will be the first to not get their checks and be furloughed

The FAA furloughed workers last friday because congress could not agree (as usual) and did not pass a budget extension for the FAA

DH is in the Navy and hasn't mentioned anything yet.  Regardless of getting a paycheck, he has to show up for work.

DH is an air traffic controller and works for the FAA. He wasn't part of the furlough with the failure to reauthorize the FAA (thankfully) but he will be part of the shutdown. He is considered an "essential employee" and has to work even though he won't get paid.

This whole situation is utter BS. Congress needs to stop acting like children and get their act together. I don't care what side of the spectrum (Right v. left, liberal v. conservative, democrat v. repulbican) anyone is on because they are all acting like morons. It isn't just one sided, both sides are acting like children.

I understand not wanting to give in on certain issues, but this is getting ridiculous.  THEY will still get paid of the government defaults and doesn't raise the debt ceiling, most of the government workers won't.
