Just wondering how long other moms plan to BF? My goal is a year, but as that approaches i feel like i might want to continue beyond that point? Not sure if i will wean her, or if I will lcontinue until she weans herself? So, just wondering! TIA
I'm going for 1 year. I'm ready to wean. I hate pumping at work. We also nurse to sleep and I'm so sick of being the one to put her to bed and down for naps. I'm ready.
I'm really aiming for a year, may yet make it to 15 months but we'll wait and see. That's when I go back to work fulltime, and I think it would make some good timing.
I'm nursing to sleep too, and I'm looking forward to that being over.
Plus, we want to start TTC#2 around March/April and I'd like to have my body all to myself for a while.
I plan to go down to morning/night when he's a year, then probably stop at 14 months. I'm going on a cruise when he's 14 months & I really don't want to worry about taking the pump.
I will let DS wean himself. Even though he will be 1 this week, he still looks like a baby when he is nursing. I cannot imagine taking that away from him right now, especially since I do not have a good reason too.
They grow up way too fast and I see no need to rush that. DS#1 will be turning 3 in a couple months and I have no idea how that happened!

This is us completely, except for the naps part. Last night we decided to do CIO because I'm tired of him crying when I put him to bed and me giving in and finally just nursing him. It worked really, really well for the first night and I figure it's going to be part of our transistion to weaning at 1 year. In fact, I'm going to start weaning at 11 months with my pedi's permission to start incorporating CM and my freezer stash.
I'm planning on nursing until his adjusted one year and than I'll probably still nurse morning and night after this. I'm sick of pumping so I'll eliminate daytime nursing first and go from there.

We are not planning on TTC that early but I agree with wanting to have my body to myself again.... and take Nyquil and drink more than one drink at a time.
I plan to go for a year... maybe a month or two past if he still wants to nurse before bed. I am so tired of pumping.

I right there with you! I am lucky I have such a good supply and ever so grateful but working full time and putting to bed everynight is exhausting!!!
longer than I thought. We are letting him self wean.
My original plan was 1 year, but my LO is so into the BFing and barely takes any solids yet at nearly 11 months. He still BFs or gets a bottle of BM 7-8 times/day.
I agree with others, I am tired of the pumping 3x/day at work and the only one putting him to bed especially when I don't get home until 7:30pm, but I look at it as a small phase in his life and I'm trying to enjoy these moments with him while I can. They grow way too quick.
I go back to work when he is a year old, and plan to continue BF'ing morning and night when I go back to work as well as pump half way through the day so that he can have one serving of BM while he's at daycare. We've talked about TTC #2 after L turns one, so we'll see how that goes if I'm still BF'ing. I would have no problem continuing on while pregnant if that happens, but since I've had no AF yet, I'm assuming I'll have to stop BF'ing eventually to TTC. So I would probably end around 18-24 months if he's still wanting it.
I had planned on BFing for a year but now DH is kind of wanting me to BF for a lil longer... However, we're planning on TTC starting in Sept and if I get pregnant right away that could change how long I BF for.

I definitely want to get to a year. I think after that, I may still nurse him in the morning and before bed, if he wants to. I think I'm going to just play it by ear. If I feel like it's time to stop, or he seems to not be interested, then we'll stop. I don't think I'd want to go past 1.5 though.
DH doesn't want me going past 9 months off the boob and I have a long trip that I have to go to so he gets his way this time. I didn't think I'd be so in love with it and would have let DS self wean if it was possible. I'm sure I'll get over it once I'm able to stop pumping at work all the time and can work out in the AM rather than have to feed on one side while pumping the other.
In terms of pumping at work, a year...if my boobage will be cooperative in supply. If so, then I plan to perhaps nurse in the am/pm for a few months to get us through flu season. Of course, it all depends if DD wants to nurse too. But given that she seems to love it, that shouldn't be much of an issue.
The big goal is 1 year but anything past that is a bonus. I'm hoping at 1 year to drop to one pumping session during the day and just nursing am/pm. We'll see how that goes and play it by ear.

This is us. I'm so ready to stop pumping but I'm determined to get to a year then cut back to just morning and night. I know I'm going to miss our special time together once she weans. She has already started weaning herself from nursing to sleep some nights and that has not been easy.
I am not going to go any longer than a year. My original goal was 9 months, so happy to have made that, but now I am ready to start weaning and giving her more of my stock. I am slowly starting to decrease how much I pump and will be elimiating one feeding later this week. I am going to try to drag out the weaning process so that she will either nurse or have my stock until 1 year.

I am ALL done with the pump. It will be SO nice to go back to work in a month and not have to lug that thing around. With that said, I plan on nursing for a while. I nursed DD1 until 3 days before DD2 was born and she was 22 months at that time. I guess I'll give it the next year and see how it goes.

Before having DS I was thinking by 2 but now I'm not sure. I am going to let him self wean and I'm guessing it will happen before that.
