Food Allergy

Wheat Testing--fail (poo mentioned)

just about a week ago I asked for advice on seeing if my LO could tolerate wheat (I have an intolerance, not an allergy)  We tried and he developed a runny nose, wet cough, constipation, fussyness, agressiveness...  We are still trying to determine if he coincidenally got sick at the same time, or if Wheat caused all of this and he has an actual allergy.  On the advice of people on this board I ceased the wheat yesterday morning and we will try again in 2 weeks... if we get the same reaction-we know it was the wheat and not a cold.  Here is my ongoing problem....  he pooped late in the evening on Thursday and then not again until almost 48 hours later (last night) he has not pooped again since so we are now at 26 hours.  He usually goes once in a 24 hour period.  Yesterday's poo was a mix of water, soft poo, and hard compact pellets of poo.  I have tried baby-ex-lax in his juice but he tastes it and rejects it, I have tried gummy fiber vitamins-he rejects it... what else can I do?  How long will it take to get the nasty wheat out of his system, if that is in fact what is causing this problem?

Re: Wheat Testing--fail (poo mentioned)

  • For me (Celiac + multiple other food intolerances), it can take anywhere from 5-7 days after I last ate the offending food.  There's nothing I can take or do to speed things up - the reaction just has to do its thing.  It sets off an inflammatory thing all through my body, and even when the food is out of me, it takes a while for everything to calm down.  :(  Hang in there!
