We figured we'd be done at 2 kids. Now with our surprise twins, we'll be having 3 and I think that will be the end of our procreating
I've been considering what the best option for us would be though. One of those long term birth control options, or a vasectomy for DH?
I have been on bc pills since I was about 19 (other than when TTC or pregnant) so I am wondering if there will be pro/cons to choosing a long term option for me or going off all together.
And as far as vasectomy -- I was wondering if we should go ahead now, what the recovery is like, etc..
Feel free to chime in with stories, things to consider, etc.. this is all new to me!

My H got a vas after the twins were born. He was sore for two or three days and that's it.
Congrats on being a MoM!
was it long after they were born? I was thinking maybe he could do it when he's home for the 2 weeks following the girls being born. but then someone said that guys basically have to sit and do nothing for like 3 days, which will not work out well with twinfants and a toddler!

Side note...
If your DH and you decide to go the vasectomy route, don't mess around with him going in to get 'checked' to make sure he is sterile.
I know 2 people who did not want to have to go put there 'stuff' in a cup and wound up pregnant again!!
DH got his vasectomy when the boys were almost 3 months old. We knew as soon as we found out it was twins that he would have it done.
We had my mom lined up to stay the whole weekend he got it done on a Friday, but he was fine by Staurday night just a little sore. Friday he was unable to do anything but hold frozen peas on himself but by Saturday I could hand him babies to hold he just couldnt lift them out of crib, swings.
totally unrealated, but your girls have the same birthday as my DD, but she was 5/14/08
DH got his vasectomy before the twins were born. He sat around on frozen peas the same day, and was back to normal the following day.
Definitely make sure he follows through with the samples, as PP mentioned. It took DH 6 months to have a clean sample, so we used condoms until then (you know, when we actually had sex, which wasn't at all before they were born and not for a bit afterwards, either).
I know 1000% that I'm done with two. DH claims he's 99.9% sure, but that may just be a stall tactic before he gets a vasectomy. I got Mirena put in and told him he has exactly 5 years to get used to the idea of getting snipped.
The IUD insert was painful and (TMI, sorry) messy, but it's been just fine ever since. I'd never, ever go back on the pill.
