Baking Soda Test

Hey girls. I tried the baking soda test and it didn't do anything until like a minute later there were just a few tiny bubble around the rim of the cup? Not fizzy or foamy but just a few tiny bubbles? anyone else have this happen? or know what its supposed to mean?

What's the baking soda test?

You are supposed to put a teaspoon of baking soda in a cup then pee in another cup and pour the urine into the cup of baking soda. If it does nothing supposed to be a girl, if it fizzes or foams like beer a boy.

Maaaaaybe you're having twins: one girl, one boy! lol... I just tried it, and it fizzled right away!! DH's sister who has predicted all the genders of the past 4 babys his family has had, predicted boy when we told him a few weeks ago. I'm thinking boy too...

OMG! funny you say that. I had a dream last night that we got an US and there were two babies and everyone has been teasing me that I will have twins LOL

It means you just peed into baking soda. Pee has ammonia in it, and you peed in baking soda which fizzes and bubbles when it reacts with ammonia.

So congrats, you just made an 8th grade science experiment!

good grief, lighten up.  This OP peed in baking soda, and is trying to determine if it was bubbling or fizzing.   Whether it is an old wives tale or not, it is silly.  And she can be teased a little for it.

No, everybody does not try old wives tales, because most people know that there is nothing in your pee that can determine if you are having a boy or girl.

And for everyone who tries these old wive's tales (which, by the way, not all of us do) - if there was something in your urine that could tell you definitively if you were having a boy or a girl, don't you think your doctor would make a pee test an option for you to find out the gender? Imagine how much money they'd make from giving pregnant moms the option of finding out if they were having a boy or a girl at the very first appointment!
