My LO has a milk/soy protein allergy and has been BF through the bottle since he was born (NICU baby). We JUST discovered this issue on Monday so I've been slowly introducing the Nutramigen, mixed in with my breast milk. The problem is that I had already started to wean (thought I wouldn't need to make any more milk) when we discovered this issue and so my supply is nowhere near sufficient for our current mixture (50% BM, 50% Nutramigen). I'm working on keeping my diet clean of milk and soy products and on building up my supply again because LO does NOT like the taste of Nutramigen straight. I'm terrified that I won't be able to build it up enough, quickly enough, to help make this transition a slower process. I have frozen milk but it's not ideal since I have no idea what I ate on those days and I'm almost out of it anyways.
Is there any way to make Nutramigen taste better so LO will eat? What has your experience been with it with your LOs? Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. I'm feeling really down in the dumps since I made the poor decision to start weaning before I knew for sure he wouldn't need my milk.
Re: XP: Nutramigen users - taste tips??
This. DD was on Nutramigen for a bit during a HORRIBLE stomach bug and she just hated the taste. I mixed in a little bit of powdered orange flavored pedialyte and she loved it. (it sort of smelled like an Orange Creamsicle so I imagine that's what it tasted like).
