1st Trimester

Starting to freak out

I usually post on The Nest but now it's time to jump over here.

I'm about 16 DPO, blood test yesterday confirmed PG, don't know beta yet as the lab had picked up for the day but will know monday.

I've been having mild cramping on and off for a few days.  No biggie.  Saw some light pink blood Wednesday only when I wiped.  Doc said that was normal.

Today, for about the past 4 hours, it has felt like I'm trying to start my period, cramping wise. I would say I'm at a 2 on the pain scale sometimes a 3 with a shooting pain here and there.  No blood at all at the moment.  I know cramping can be normal as the body adjusts to pregnancy, I guess I'm just scared I could be having a MC.

Re: Starting to freak out

  • Congratulations.  Cramping and some spotting is normal that early in pregnancy.  You may notice some brown spotting too which could be implantation bleeding and/or old blood.

I would say you're probably fine.  If you notice period-like bleeding, heavy cramping and/or passing clots, then you have reason to worry.

Drink lots of water and try to get some rest!  Good luck!

  • I had a little blood right around my period (well a little after it was due and i found out I was pregnant) I also had cramping, mild like my period or ovulating for several days and then it got less and less.  Hoping it stays mild and goes away.

    keep us posted!

  • Thanks!!!  I've been laying in bed, asleep, since I got home from work.  Luckily I have a desk job and I am able to prop my feet up as needed.  I've read several websites and I was leaning towards being okay but then my thoughts started to get the best of me.
  • I know it's hard to not stress out about it.  Believe me...when I started bleeding it was a Friday and I had to wait that whole weekend to find out what I already suspected.  I drove myself NUTS looking up stuff online too.  So my best advice is to try to stay positive and off Google ;o)  You haven't had actual bleeding so I'm guessing you're just fine!
  • I've had the same cramping. On my 2nd BETA on Wednesday, I specifically asked my Dr about cramping and her response was it was expected, as our uterus is growing to support sweet baby. She also stated most women have "period type" cramps. I've read tons of message boards and many, many, many  posts about period like cramps. Unless accompanied with blood, they are normal. If you need pain relief, Tylenol is safe to take. I know it's stressful, but it is normal. :) Just growing pains!

  • I had lots of cramps throughout my fourth and fifth week.  It then followed by a light brown spotting for two days.  I was in a complete panic!  I was told to drink lots of water and not to over work myself.

I went to the Dr. today and I am 7w and 2 days.  My husband and I were able to see/hear the heartbeat.  What a treat!  I know it is hard when you first find out and are waiting for that next appointment, but try not to stress and keep your mind occupied with positive things :)  Good luck to everyone!

  • I'm putting myself on bedrest this weekend and just chillin.  I will do the laundry and only becuase we do have an elevator in the house and won't have to carry it up and down the stairs.  I will do the grocery shopping Sunday and that's about it.
