Who does Crossfit?

My husband is obsessed, and I mean CRAZY with doing Crossfit and he keeps pushing me to do it with him. I know circuit training is the way to go, but what about "Crossfit" is so great as opposed to regular old circuits and cardio?

Has it worked wonders for you PP to get the weight off and tighten up? I'm curious about trying it only b/c I wan't to be able to get a good workout in, in as little time as possible. I barely have time to shower and dry my hair w/ LO.

Thoughts? TIA!

Re: Who does Crossfit?

  • LOL, I just got back from CrossFit class.   I love it!

I know circuit training is the way to go, but what about "Crossfit" is so great as opposed to regular old circuits and cardio? It's not really circuit training. The Work Out of the Day portion is, but there is also a heavy weightlifting component. Eventhough it's a group session, it's really more like personal training.

Yes. I've always been athletic. After 6 week clearance I was triathalon training, and training for multiple half marathons. However, I wasn't tightening up like I wanted to be, and my race times were slower than I liked.

I added CrossFit at 6 months post pregnancy, and never looked back.  That along with  reduced carb diet has dramatically changed my body for the better.  I was fit before, but I'm shocked at how much stronger and faster I've become.

You should give it a try.

  • I SECOND THE PP.

I have done bootcamps before but the crossfit bootcamp was the best work-out and fun-wise. Where else are you going to flip huge freakin' truck tires and carry people on your back (and trust me- THEIR trainers watch your form MUCH closer than anyone else and make sure you don't get injured even when you do something so rediculous as a buddy carry or swing kettle bells)

It's FUN and most places have something like a bootcamp to get you started, then transition to foundations and then the heavy stuff.

    Try it. You'll like it!

  • give it a try!  I did crossfit a couple months before getting pg, as MH was also really into it and encouraging me to try it.  I already felt and looked "fit" but then crossfit was a whole other level!!  Its reallyhard but so rewarding. i kept up with CrossfitMom during pg until pretty late and then scaled back the last 8 weeks or so.  I had an easy pg and delivery.  Im only 5 days pp now, but already dropped 19 of the 25lbs I gained, which Im sure is due to having stayed active and mostlygrain/starch free before/during/since being pg.  I cant wait for dr to clear me so I can start back up again.  The workouts can be scaled, so anyone can do them and still get an a$$ kicking.  And better yet, most workouts are  relatively short.  Better than spending 60 mins on a run, IMO!!

  • I have wanted to do this, but what do you do about childcare?  The times they "offer" it are what are keeping me from doing it since i don't have anyone to watch the kids,

  • Thanks ladies! I did a little this morning with DH and was exhausted. I'm planning in doing crossfit with him and the 30 day shred trio dvds when I'm home alone. I'm really motivated to get this weight off soon as we are going back home in a few months and are going to st croix for our honeymoon that we never got the chance to have. wish me luck!!
