So why exactly does this happen? I don't eat much salt, I drink a lot of water, and it's not gas. I don't remember this happening last pregnancy. Why does it look like I'm 3-4 months pregnant when I'm only 1.5 and when will it go away?!?
This is my first pregnancy and I'm 2 weeks behind you, but one of my girlfriends stated she felt/looked the same way. Her Dr said all the extra hormones? Sorry, prob not much help. Happy Pregnancy!
The bloat is absolutely miserable!!! Over the past could of days mine has eased some, but I think my belly still looks big....granted i'm not petite, but I don't remember it being so jiggly before...LOL....
Pregnancy hormones cause your digestion to slow way down. This allows your body to get extra nutrients from the foods you eat. (The faster food goes through your digestive system, the less time your body has to absorb the nutrients from it.) Since your body needs extra vitamins and minerals to care for the baby, it's good that your digestive system slows down. However, this also means that food "hangs out" in your intestines for much longer, and that causes the bloat. Drinking more water, eating high-fiber foods and avoiding too much salt can help, but nothing's going to get rid of it completely. The bloat should start to get better by your second trimester.
You can thank the hormone progesterone for that puffy phenomenon. Isn't it great! I love walking around with a huge pooch.
It's dress down day at work, I' wearing my maternity jeans just because they are more comfortable. I can still wear my other jeans but with a bloated belly, I end up undoing the top button anyway.

I've already unbuttoned my pants here at work....
It's a GIRL!
I'm not wearing pants. It's okay though, I work from home.
