MoMs that run...

I am getting tired of just walking with the DSNG stroller and am looking forward to jogging with the twins.  My question is when did you feel comfortable having them in the jogging stroller?  3 months? 6 months?

 TIA!

Re: MoMs that run...

  • We have a BOB Duallie and followed the instructions that came with it that said to wait until 8 months. It also helped that they were born in late August so half that time was during the cold winter so there was no temptation to go out and run before that.
  • Most jogging strollers say to wait until 4 months, although like PP mentioned the BoB says to wait until 6-8 months.

  • I have the BOB Sport Utility, and the instructions say 8 weeks for walking and 8 months for running.  Running with any jogging stroller can be pretty dangerous on their back and neck.  They just don't have the core strength to handle the jostling of running before that.

We started walking/running exactly at 8w/8m.  I'm willing to do stupid things with my own body (like running way before 6w pp), but I wasn't going to risk anything with them.

Once they're old enough for a jogging stroller, it's SO much better for walks than the DSNG!  I felt like I was flying!

We walked with our BOB around 8wks but I didn't run with them until 7-8 mo.  I hated our DSNG so getting them into the BOB for walks was a godsend!

  • Probably 6 months in the bumbleride indie...but to be honest, i prefer running without them! I do it in the morning before my DH goes to work and it is a nice time for just me. :)

  • 6 months.

When my twins were itty bitty (under 6 months), I used to wear one on chest and one on my back for walks.  I think yours are still too young for back carries, but its something to consider in a few months.

  • we were told by our pediatrician to wait until 7 months, or when they were sitting unassisted without a lot of head bobbling.

I've run with them once - last week - and it seemed fine. Our neighborhood is all flat roads, paved, no hills/bumps. But we've been having a heat wave - 95+ here, so I'm not taking the kids outside at all until we get back to normal temps. (Not that I'd want to run in 95* weather anyway...)

  • Thanks everyone! Looks like I have sometime before they will be ready and able. I think I am just frustrated with how challenging it is to manuever the DSNG.  Plus I am running a 5K in October and I feel like I am running out of time to get ready.

We are also in the middle of the heat wave and have not left our house in 2 days and it looks like we have 2 more to go. Sad
