Just writing this out of curiosity and out of some concern. When we
switched my daughter from breast-milk to formula, she got a horrid rash.
We realized that the formula was cow based and switched to soy-formula.
Now with her turning one we are taking her off formula and on to the
next stage of milk. We tried the regular cow-based whole milk and it was
the worse diaper rash I've EVER seen. So we purchased lactose-free
whole milk, and she seems to be doing great and even loving her "leche".
I have severe lactose-intolerance. I can't drink milk, eat
ice cream, or even cheese without getting sick. Is it possible to pass
this down to your children? And how young can you really find out if
they are Lactose Intolerant. And is it safe to give her the lactose-free
milk? Or is soy milk, coconut milk, goat milk be the better way to go??
Re: possible Lactose Intolerant??
I don't really know much about lactose milk so i'm probably not much help. But if she did good on soy formula, why not put her on soy milk? I'm personally not a fan of soy milk, but i know many people choose soy for their toddlers..
There is also enriched rice milk, almond milk, coconut milk (as you mentioned), flax milk, oats milk.. (all are dairy/soy free)
I'm also not sure about a test.. but assuming if she's having severe BM from any dairy than that would be the main test. But i'm sure they can do something. i would call your pedi and ask.
