Ring sling

Anyone have any tips on how to make the ring sling easier for me to figure out? I hear moms say this is their go to for quick and easy transport and I, for the life of me, cannot figure it out. I try to do tummy to tummy with legs out and don't seem to get a good seat.  I feel like DS is uncomfortable and is just not in it right. How should his legs be positioned so he is supported by the sling? TIA

  • It takes some practice. Watch a lot of youtube videos and practice. I feel like now that LO is bigger - it is very much my go to, but that with our next LO it will be easier b/c I really have the hang of it.

  • I lean forward a bit so he's not completely against me, then pull the bottom rail up towards his belly, straighten back up so he's against me again, then stuff the fabric between us more and/or spread knee to knee if needed. Clear as mud?

  • The fix really depends on where in the process you seem to be running into problems.

Like WebMistress said, make sure you create a pouch.  Legs in or legs out is up to your baby.  He'll let you know what he likes.  If you do legs in, just froggy them up in front of him.  if you do legs out then make sure he's in a deep, wide squat w/ his needs at or above his bottom.  That bottom rail may need to be looser than you currently have it so that you can get enough fabric between his legs to create your pouch.

Support his weight with one hand while you tighten the fabric with the other.  I find that the last step that seals the deal is tightening the upper rail only.  I'll look for some videos that might help.

  • There are videos on the page below.  Maybe that will help.
