***tonic***

My totally unsolicited advice with maternity jeans.

I bought 2 pairs and wore only those through all of pregnancy...I spent $$ on them because none of the cheaper ones fit me (slim waist slim hips and butt) and just fell off.  You 1) might be surprised how maternity jeans will fit the athletic body type you have, and 2) might consider buying the high end maternity jeans since I know you can wear them to work and can wear them all the time then.

I bough paige maternity, but I know some people love the sevens and citizens.  usually whatever non-maternity brand fits you will have a maternity brand that fits you.

Also, when looking for jeans I strongly suggest either 1) getting the nude waist banded ones (if you choose to have the ones with the bands) or 2) getting a belly band that comes in white or other colors to cover up the darker waist bands under lighter colored shirts.

GAP has an amazing shirt selection in maternity and Macy's Oakridge is now carrying maternity clothes (though I have not looked at their selection, but it might be worth a loot).  I was not happy with anything I got a motherhood, they all shrank and I was out of them by month 7, the rouched sided shirts last MUCH longer and at the end pair them with belly bands and you never have to worry about exposing anything you don't want to expose...and they help keep up your pants the last 2-4 weeks.

  • Oh and Bump Maternity should be having their 1/2 off jean sale soon, I would call them and ask.  That is how I got my paige jeans for $103 w/ tax instead of paying over $200.

    If you want citizen or sevens they have them at pea in a pod.  You can try them on in store and order from someone online for cheaper.  Or you can sign up with them and get a coupon.

  • ::butting in:::

    I agree - its not as bad as it seems!

    Pea in the pod or destination maternity will be very helpful in finding ones youre comfortable in & are usually having a sale this time of year too.

    I have 2 pairs that I was going to put on the baby swap blog if youre interested. A pair of Paige jeans & Mavi

  • I replied in the TT thread, but agreed with the advice to buy quality jeans.  I didn't until somewhat recently, and I'm annoyed I ever bothered with ON jeans (though they did work well for me in the beginning).

    Pea in a Pod has their own brand too that is still higher end but just a little more affordable than the namebrands they sell.  I think I got mine for $65 on sale, I wash them at least twice a week and there's no shrinking or fading.  Very happy with them.

    And I have all dark panel jeans, but I wear those Target Be Maternity cami's ($17) under everything (rather than a belly band), and that has worked well for me.

    Overall though, other than the frustration with not knowing exactly how things will fit with a constantly changing body, and the exhorbitant cost of things, maternity jean shopping is easier than regular jean shopping, IMO.  I've started to wonder what the point of zippers and buttons even is anymore ;)

  • Thanks for the tips. Jeans are pretty much the work attire here, so I need 2-3 pairs.
