Me! And chicsub, she's on here pretty often (we actually had the same doula, who is great!).
Are you in the city proper? I went to the UIC Midwife group, and they were awesome. I would recommend them, though the hospital is very no-frills (unlike Prentice!), but UIC has a good VBAC rate, and I wasn't given a hard time about it, ever.
The other good places to go are West Suburban Midwives in Oak Park, or the midwife group out of Swedish (though they are very conservative and their hands are tied by the OB group when it comes to things like going past 40 weeks). The local ICAN list is good about answering questions about specific providers or hospitals, too. Good luck!
This was so helpful - thank you so much. I delivered at Prentice and felt very forced into the c-section so I'm looking to switch practices. I actually kind of hated Prentice (not popular opinion I know) so I'm fine with no-frills! I am going to look into UIC Midwives.

Excellent! Yeah, Prentice is not the greatest, though it's used by so many women. I can PM my doula and midwife's info if you want.
Nosoup covered most of it! I live out in Aurora, but made the drive to West Suburban and it was well worth it since I ended up with GD this time. I had DD in the Alternative Birth Center there and it was a very relaxing experience. They have telemetry and do water births for VBACs as well, even though I had no interest getting in the tub this time, go figure.
DS born via c/s 11/08 and med-free GD VBAC DD 3/11!
