I think I have just about every disney post bookmarked but I didn't see anyone talk about this so I'm asking now.
We are definitely going to Disneyland this fall - most likely in October. I know the park will be decorated for the holiday but I'm wondering how much of the activities Ryan and Natalie can participate in. I've seen the info on Mickey's Halloween party but I'm assuming that's either for older kids or even adults considering the timeframe?
Any advice? I think we'll probably leave on a Sunday and come back on a Thursday. Is that enough time or should we allow for more time. No idea yet where we'll stay - or where we'll buy tickets. I really can't book until I see Ryan's preschool schedule and that'll be in a few weeks.
(Can you believe it? We're ACTUALLY going on vacation! First time in over 5 years!)
Re: Another disneyland post...
October has become a very busy time of year for DL. Sun-Thurs is usually what we do. Usually we stay at the HoJo. Haunted Mansion is remade into A Nightmare Before Christmas. Lines are always super long for this during October.
We have taken Sara twice to Mickey's ToT. There are characters dressed in Halloween costumes if the kiddos are into the characters. There are Trick or Treat stations around the park where they give out different goodies. Some are candy. Some are healthier snacks. They have certain rides open during this time. The last time we went there was a dance party. I've only been when they had it at CA park not since they moved it to DL.
YEA for going on vacation!!!

Ditto what J said about the park being all decorated for Halloween. I *love* it! And also that it's usually late afternoon/early evening that it starts to get crowded, and then if it's the weekend, it'll be busy no matter what. It will be busy for the ToT. We took the boys to it when they were 14 months old. While they did not get the concept of ToT-ing, we still had fun. All the characters are out and you just go from candy station to candy station. When they had it at California Adventure they had a dance party area set up and the boys really loved to hang out there. I think the most important thing is to let the kids be your guide. We didn't do nearly as much as *I* wanted to on that trip and it turned out to be more stressful than needed. They still had fun and just watching it all thru their eyes is absolutely priceless!
I don't know anything about Disneyland, but I do know that schools with "modified traditional" calender have 2 weeks off in October. We had it when I worked in Brentwood and virtually ALL of East CoCo county descended upon Disneyland in those 2 weeks. Now that schools are facing so many budgeting issues a TON of California schools are on this schedule, and that's one of the reasons for the crowding at that time.
That, and October is just the BEST month for weather all over California! I'm kind of jonsing for Fall already, lol!
