What changed...

That you SWORE to yourself wouldn't change you when you had your baby?

From letting your baby sleep in your bed, to swearing that you would treat your animals the same.

Lets hear it!

Re: What changed...

  • I SWORE to myself that I would never ever let my baby sleep in my bed.

He did after the first night. Now his is in his crib, but there are times where I'm just way to tired to sit up and nurse, so I'll bring him back to bed with me.

  • WIthout a doubt...sleeping in bed with me. She hated the crib at first, so the transition from the PnP was rough. I was so exhausted from getting up a million times a night, I let her sleep with me.

Thankfully, she out grew that phase and sleeps in her crib all night.

But I SWORE I would NEVER EVER do that. It's funny how you change you opinion on things once your LO arrives.

  • I too, swore that we would not be a bed sharing family... we did it out of complete necessity! Thankfully, that has passed for the most part.

I'm also ashamed to admit that I figured people could just have their baby nap in another room or something if they were hanging out with friends.  While DS is still pretty good (he naps on lounge chairs at the pool, blankets on the floor, towels in the grass at a bbq...) when it comes to nighttime, he is home, in bed by 8:00 or serious melt downs begin!

  • DD sleeps in our bed sometimes.  And occasionally watches a little bit of tv, to calm her when she is mad.
  • Lol...i was DEFINITELY the dog-mom before the baby came. I would be that wackjob coworker showing people a million pics of her big ole dog (see avatar). I still love him to pieces but he's not the #1 attention getter anymore.

  • I swore I would not use a pacifier. I made it until about 6 or 7 weeks but then gave up. Nothing against people who use them or anything, I just cared not to. I just hope we can break him of it early.

I swore I would not feel differently toward our pets. I do. And there's nothing I can do about it...the love just shifted. I still love them all to death, but they are very clearly at the bottom of the love-receiving chain nowadays. I swear I want to throw my cats out the window some days, and the poor dog is dying for more play time. I just don't have it! :(

  • I changed a lot of thoughts after DS. We part-time co-sleep which I wasn't against but never planned on doing. I don't play with our dog as much and I really miss walking him but the weather + DS has made that impossible. The biggest is TV. I was really firm against letting DS watch TV, now we just call it the flashing box and tell him to look away lol

  • My dog was my baby before M was born. And I do still love him soo much and wouldn't get rid of him.But he really annoys me now in a way he never did before. The hair kills me and he is so excited and obnoxious and really gets on my last nerve.
