I know a little boy named Murphy. At first I was like huh? but now I really like it! Although, he may get some "Smurfy" teasing, but kids will pick on almost any name.

I voted for "it's ok" mainly because I'm not a huge fan of "last name as first name" type of situations. It's not the worst name I've heard.

Makes me think of Murphy Brown.  I liked the show, but as a first name I think there are MUCh better ones out there....

This for me too. I actually like the name but I immediately think of it as a dog's name.

Same here.  I've known several Golden Retrievers named Murphy.

That being said, I voted for "it's ok" just because I've heard MUCH worse.

my cousin's newfoundlander is named Murphy..

I do like the name though...

I worked with a guy named Murray.. if thats any help

I think I know too many dogs name Murphy so the name is ruined for me on a human child.
