Teething?

DS has been miserable the last few days. He's been drooling up a storm and before yesterday he never drooled before and he has been all about his hands in his mouth and thumb sucking.  I wouldn't think anything of it if it all came without the fussiness. He just seems so so miserable and my mom suggested it even though we both agreed it seems early, but is it possible? Could he be teething even though he's only 2 months?

"Teething can begin in infants as young as 2 months of age, even though the first tooth usually does not appear until about age 6 months of age."

I wondered the same thing recently and saw this. Who knows though Tongue Tied

  • I mentioned to my mom that V has been drooling all over the place lately, and she suggested that she might be in the early stages of teething.  She also "chews" on her hands frantically (and not just when she's hungry).

  • Totally possible. My first DS got his first tooth before he was 4 months. And the teething process is soooooo long and brutal for some babies. I think my little guy is starting too because he is chewing his hands and also suddenly is pulling off and crying while nursing, which I read can be a teething sign as it can hurt their tender gums to nurse.

  • Yes, it could be teething.  My DS got his first tooth around 4 mo.  DD constantly has her fists in her mouth so  I'm sure she'll be getting teeth early too

DD has been chewing on her hand and her blanket! Whenever her a&a blanket is near her she bunches it up and puts it in her mouth. She also drooling so much these days that I had to change her onsie twice yesterday!

I know they say it's early, and her gums are pretty mushy and plae still, but I think we might see teeth earlier.

  • DS is doing the same things - drooling like mad, chewing his hands, fussing at the boob, won't take his paci well. His gums are fairly hard and I think I feel hard lumps up on the top in front so we'll see I guess.
