Anyone else nervous about their toddler using them as a human jungle gym while pregnant with this baby? Try to tell my 2 y/o not to push on mommy's tummy but thats hard for him to remember or understand.
Yes, I do worry about this. My DS is a bit active and likes to either kick me in the belly when I'm changing him. I ask him to be nice to the baby but he doesn't get it at this point. I just continue to be careful when I'm in close contact with him.
Right now your baby is so tiny tiny that anything your toddler does isn't really going to hurt it. As your belly gets bigger, you start having the conversation about there is a baby in there and you need to use "gentle touches". I would just treat it the same way you treat a teach a toddler how to touch a pet. Lots of postive reinforcement for gentle touches..
But right now, I think you are fine if he climbs on you a little bit.
Yes! Totally know what you mean. Today my son rammed into my belly. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the new baby is very tough! I keep trying to tell DS that there's a baby in there, and at times he's gentle, and other times, well, not so much. Just hoping the baby is protected very well :-)
I'm not too worried about DD climbing over me right now. I just don't like it because she always seems to get me in the tummy and it makes me want to hurl. Once I get bigger, we are definitely going to talk to her and instill in her that there's a baby in there and we need to be gentle.
I'm really not worried about it at all yet. Until about 10 weeks the baby is very well protected by your pubis bone. After that I wouldn't want my kiddo standing on my belly or anything but I think I can handle that :-) I'm more worried about picking her up all the time and such around the middle to end of the pregnancy.
My dd is good at listening when I say she has to be gentle but of course she forgets. They problem I am having is that she doesn't want me to hold, hug or kiss any other baby or toddler. Yesterday I told her that she was going to have a sister or brother and that mommy was going to hold them and love them just like I do to her and she said no. so looks like we are gonna have to start working on this now.
